Katy Hackney is an experienced surface pattern, print designer who studied for a National Diploma Foundation in Art, at Northampton Nene University beofre completing a Ba (Hons) in Multimedia Textiles at Loughborough University.
Katy uses hand drawn techniques, including paints and pen and ink to create her unique designs, then she manipulates them her creations on the computer to develop both placement and repeat prints ready for industry. It is the natural qualities captured from the original artwork that I love in Katy's designs, the watery brush strokes and natural gradients in washes of colour. I love thr fresh and naturally inspired colour palettes in her work, this combined with the loose and detailled line work results in really delecate and feminine designs.

Katy was a student who embarked on the groundbreaking e-course 'The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design'. The inspirational course is co founded by the very talented surface pattern designer (and close friend of mine) Rachael Taylor entrepreneur Beth Nicholls.
